Catalog # EP013. Book of Kings is the most focused, mature, well-produced and plainly excellent album/project that Black Albatross has ever created, and it marks the beginning of a new era in this young band's career . This album has been one year in the making. It is the first of a series of releases which the band will put out this year. It goes from molten raw black metal to austere organ dirges to floor-pounding thrashy passages to sparse, ambient field recordings collected at Penn Hurst state hospital (abandoned/shut down in the 1960's). This album also features a cover of Mayhem's Freezing Moon! 34 minutes of intoxicating madness! For fans of Shining, Doddheimsgard, Immortal, Aborym, Akercocke, Leviathan, Sunn O))), Mayhem, black metal, noise, black noise, and metal in general. Some samples are available for listening below.

TENEBRIOUS: SHADOWS GATHER IN COLD SHIVERING SILENCE

"Blackened isolated decaying occultism"... Shadows gather in cold shivering silence is black noise and it was recorded four years ago. All creations on this thirty six minute recording were produced and channeled by the deceased. Tenebrious creates an atmosphere which is minimal, isolated, bleak, and at times terrifying. There is a kind of subtle madness lurking right underneath the surface of this sound which occasionally shows its face. This is a single thirty six minute track. Excerpts from it will be available online soon. Until then, for other examples of the work of Tenebrious go here.

T.O.M.B. recording from Penn Hurst, PA. Recorded in 2008. Put out jointly by Esto Perpetua Records and Death Posture Ritualis Records ( URL). This is some very, very sophisticated, subtle, multi dimensional and well crafted music that comes from a project that is continuously progressing and only getting better and better. There are a number of T.O.M.B. releases in the works (and one re-release above) and each is a diatribe of madness standing quite apart from the rest...the sonic exploration of T.O.M.B. has created a blaze in the gray and polluted skies of the east coast. With live shows picking up....
Below, words of description/introduction to the release:
A SHORT REVIEW : Penn Hurst is a release which will sit heavy on the heart and remain there in stone through passing states of consciousness, penetrating deeply into one’s sleep and most private thoughts. T.O.M.B. recorded this entire release in the decaying and deserted halls of Penn Hurst State School, an abandoned mental facility that once stood 27 buildings tall and 300 acres wide right smack in the middle of bumblefuck Pennsylvania. Penn Hurst was shut down when it was learnt that the staff were brutally molesting, raping, abusing, torturing and experimenting on the patients, many of whom were involuntarily committed for crimes against society. T.O.M.B. spent many nights in Penn Hurst collecting field recordings of percussive pieces, contact mic investigations, lunar oscillation, ambient acoustics, incantations, a piano, metal surfaces, and natural tunnel reverberations. This release is in a universe all of its own… There are multiple layers of sub sonic speech going on here that are hypnotic, reminiscent of low frequency oscillators almost inaudible almost undetectable save for the gurgling and sinking feeling they produce in the stomach… Percussive, dark maelstrom of subsonic energy. This release captures the intensity of Penn Hurst at midnight in the dead of winter. Beyond metal… Hypnotic and intoxicating.

Latest album from Total.Occult.Mechanical.Blasphemy.T.O.M.B. is a mysterious, unnamed entity well known for crafting the darkest noise recordings with the aid of nothing but field recordings. Here, T.O.M.B. has set out to push the boundaries further than ever before.
To collect the field recordings T.O.M.B. travelled and trespassed through Pennsylvania’s darkest landmarks including:
Bethlehem Steel Works - builder of large calibre guns during WWI/WWII
Eden Hall Church - 157 year old gothic church destroyed from arson
Laurel Hill Cemetery - 170 year old cemetery
Lambertville High School - students burned alive 30 years ago, site of countless suicides since.
Each location has a disturbing history and they have become locations of multiple ghost sightings and unexplained deaths.
Macabre Noize Royale is T.O.M.B.’s most diverse album by far. Integrating pure noise with ambience, Industrial and Black Metal. The clear intention is to push the boundaries of Black Noise sound manipulation and continue to shock the listener (both fans and newcomers). Recorded between November 2002 and September 2007 at various locations in New Jersey and Pennsylvania USA. Studios include: Helvete, Sound War, Satans Palace.
